Smith, a recipient of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics, just two days after Smith learned that he won the Nobel Prize for his work on the invention of an imaging semiconductor circuit – the CCD sensor. 2009 OSA President Tom Baer talks with Smith about where he was when he heard the announcement, what it was like to win the Nobel Prize and the milestone work that led to it.
